There’s something quietly enchanting about a miniature watercolor…
In this one there’s a blue snake nestled among blooming flowers. At first glance, the subject might seem unusual – snakes aren’t typically associated with softness or delicacy – but this contrast is exactly what I intended to.
The surrounding flowers play an essential role in this composition. Oranges and reds, frame the snake, turning what could have been a solitary figure into part of a vibrant ecosystem. The blooms don’t overpower the snake; instead, they invite it in, softening its symbolism and transforming it into something peaceful and contemplative.
Symbolically, a snake often represents transformation, renewal, and hidden wisdom. When paired with flowers – icons of growth and beauty – the meaning deepens. This tiny blue serpent becomes less about danger and more about quiet change, the kind that happens gradually and gracefully. It suggests that transformation doesn’t always need to be dramatic; sometimes, it can be as gentle as a brushstroke.

Há algo encantador numa aguarela em miniatura…
Nesta aguarela, há uma cobra azul aninhada entre flores a desabrochar. À primeira vista, o tema pode parecer invulgar – as cobras não estão normalmente associadas a suavidade ou delicadeza – mas este contraste é exatamente o que eu pretendia.
As flores circundantes desempenham um papel essencial nesta composição. Tons de laranja e vermelho emolduram a cobra, transformando o que poderia ter sido uma figura solitária, numa parte de um ecossistema vibrante. As flores não ofuscam a cobra; em vez disso, acolhem-na, suavizando o seu simbolismo e transformando-a em algo pacífico e contemplativo.
Simbolicamente, uma cobra representa frequentemente a transformação, a renovação e a sabedoria. Quando combinada com flores – ícones de crescimento e beleza – o significado aprofunda-se. Esta pequena serpente azul deixa de ser uma representação de perigo e passa a representar uma mudança silenciosa, daquela que acontece gradual e graciosamente. Sugere que a transformação não tem de ser sempre dramática; por vezes, pode ser tão suave como uma pincelada.
